Recipients ~ Laura
From a young age, I enjoyed taking care of family members whenever they were sick or had bumps or bruises. But when my Grandpa was diagnosed with stomach cancer, a career in nursing was an idea I pursued more diligently.
During the period of my Grandpa's illness (and death a few months later), I remember how wonderful the nurses were at his treatment facility. They were incredibly knowledgeable, and they also offered support for my Granola (Grandma).
As a nursing student, I now have the opportunity to continue developing my skill by serving others I don't know:
Lindsey's Hope Scholarship has encouraged and helped me tremendously! I feel honored to receive this award in the name of an outstanding young woman. This scholarship has shown me that other people care about my development and career.
I am not yet certain regarding the nursing specialty I'd like to pursue, but I am encouraged to remember that God has brought me where I am today and has a plan for my career. I attend my clinical rotations with an open mind, and expect to find a specialty that fits me.
Laura graduated from Biola University in May 2013. She used the Lindsey's Hope scholarship to assist with the costs of transportation and books.

As a nursing student, I now have the opportunity to continue developing my skill by serving others I don't know:
- Some individuals are considered "undeserving" by society or other healthcare professionals.
- Some have been in police custody, facing jail upon their release from the hospital. Others were homeless and returning to the streets.
- And some have loving families who are deeply concerned about their condition.
